Stephanie Chen

Stephanie Chen is a talented musician specializing in traditional Chinese wind instruments, including the dizi, bawu, hulusi, ocarina, and Xiao. Based in Melbourne, she regularly performs at multicultural festivals, concerts and celebrations promoting Chinese culture through music. She has collaborated multiple times with award-winning pianist and composer Warren Wills, blending Eastern and Western styles.

With extensive experience and knowledge of traditional classical Chinese music from the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), the leading music academy in China, Stephanie’s repertoire spans Chinese classical and ancient music, as well as contemporary genres like R&B, hip-hop, and EDM, creating unique cross-cultural performances.

Holding a Bachelor of Honours and a Master’s degree in Criminology, Stephanie incorporates a deep understanding of Chinese history and culture into her performances. She has taught flute to all age groups and served as a sessional academic at Deakin University in criminology.

Stephanie is committed to sharing Chinese music and culture with diverse audiences, providing educational workshops and performances that offer both musical artistry and cultural insights. This is a performance that cannot be missed!
