Walakado was founded in 2024, inspired by the Japanese proverb “Laughter at the gate invites happiness.” The name reflects their mission: to create a space where the sound of taiko uplifts both drummers and audiences, filling hearts with joy and bringing smiles naturally.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Walakado shares the art of taiko drumming with the wider community. From traditional rhythms to contemporary styles, their performances welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the power, beauty, and spirit of taiko.
Through performances, workshops, and classes, Walakado connects people, celebrates culture, and invites everyone to discover the joy of drumming together.
