Summer Liu plays a traditional Chinese instrument called the Guzheng. The Guzheng has 21 strings with 2,500 years of history, and performers wear fake nails which are used to play the instrument.
Summer played at the Asia Oasis festival last year. She also has performed at the Melbourne Music Week, at the Gold Coast art galleries, as well as childcare centres, schools and in China. She has been a regular street performer around Melbourne for several years.
Besides being a musician, Summer is also a clay figurine artist. Most of her figurines are dolls with Chinese traditional dress. If you are interested to know more abou this, you can ask Summer before or after her performance. She plans to give some of her little handicraft Chinese dolls away at the festival!
Come and say hi to Summer at the festival.
Summer is scheduled to perform on Thursday and Friday 4 and 5 December 2025 at night time. Check out our Performing Arts Program schedule which will be published soon.
