Alexandra Gardens: Where, Why and How?

Alexandra Gardens, named after Alexandra of Denmark, the wife of King Edward VII, in 1901, is located south of Princes Bridge and east of St Kilda Road. The gardens are particularly beautiful in spring, from September to November.

Our event venues include the Palm Lawn and Dorchester Lawn at Alexandra Gardens. The gardens themselves are an attraction, hosting various events, the most popular of which is the Moomba festival in March every year. Asia Oasis chose these gardens for their landscape and natural beauty, which fit in well with our choice of location. Our previous event venues include Pinky Flat, next to the River Torrens, and Glenelg, next to Glenelg Beach. Our unique ambience will only be complete with adding a water feature.

How to get there

It’s best to use public transport to reach Alexandra Gardens as parking is very limited. If you’re travelling by train, you can leave Flinders Street Station and walk south, which would take about 9 minutes. Alternatively, you can use the Richmond Station, but it would take more than 20 minutes to walk. If you prefer trams, get off at Arts Precinct/St Kilda Road or Federation Square/Swanston Street and then walk south across the Yarra River. Many buses also take you to Melbourne CBD, and if possible, you can get off at a stop closest to Flinders Street Station and follow the map signs.

On the South Bank side, you can keep walking along Boathouse Drive to reach the event venue. Using e-bikes or e-scooters is highly recommended, and public bike parking is close to the Richmond Rowing Club on Boathouse Drive. However, landing a helicopter in the gardens is not an option.
